Beyond the Riftwar Cycle

In response to talk on the Feistfans-l Mailing List about the completion of the Riftwar Cycle when Magicians End is released in a few years time. Ray posted the fllowing:

From: Raymond E. Feist
Date: 21 July 2008

I have no plans to do Midkemian books after the end of the cycle, however that doesn't mean I won't do some down the road. We've got a couple of different ideas in the hopper for what's coming after the end of the series.

Best, R.E.F.

UPDATE

From: Raymond E. Feist
Date: 23 July 2008

As I have said, we have a couple of concepts kicking around.  But I've got four more books to write before I have to decide, so I'm not  exactly in a hurry to nail it down.

Best, R.E.F.

Hungarian Wrath of a Mad God Reviewed

And now for something out of the ordinary. We don't normally provide links to reviews of the books, as there are plenty out there on the web, but in this instance we have something a little different for you.

We have been informed the Ekultura.hu a Hungarian cultural webzine have reviewed Az őrült isten dühe (Wrath of a Mad God) published by Beholder.hu. This is not your normal review, as being in Hungarian it is primarily suited to those of our readership who read Hungarian, though if your enterprising, you may be able to use a translator.

If you would like to read the review, please go their page Raymond E. Feist: Az őrült isten dühe

Many thanks go to Galgóczi Tamás for providing the link.

Magician Apprentice Comic to Continue

Ray posted the following to the Feistfans-l

Look for the last arc to be released starting in January.  After it's done, the trade hardcover and then the trade paperback will be produced.

I should have some news about Master as a comic after my meeting with Marvel at the end of July.

Magician Apprentice Comic Book Adaptation - Update

In response to a question on the status of the Comic Book Adaptation on the alt.books.raymond-feist newsgroup, Ray responed as follows:

From: Raymond Feist
Date: 26 June 2008

Here's what I can tell you. Marvel will finish up Apprentice. They will resume releasing the third arc in January. There's a pretty complex set of reasons why they had the interruption in production, some having to do with inheriting the project from DBP and others with their own internal scheduling issues. The next thing under discussion will be Master, which we'll take up at a meeting at the San Diego ComiCon at the end of next month. If sales stay healthy, there's a good chance we might see this go all the way through Sethanon.

Best, R.E.F.

Midkemia Online - Update

We have received an update on the status of Midkemia Online from Jeremy Saunders (President of Iron Realms Entertainment), and Eric Mikula and Deric Hicks (Co-Producers, Midkemia Online). You can read all about it below.

Greetings Midkemia Fans! midkemia_dwarf_small

Below is the latest update form Midkemia Online developers Eric Mikula and Deric Hicks. As promised last month, here are basic character images for the Dwarf and Goblin races (they can also be seen here). I have also included the initial rough draft images so you can see the progression and get a peek at the human and troll. We will release more art soon, including some scenes from the books. Our goal remains to open Midkemia Online by the end of 2008.

Enjoy!

Development for Midkemia Online has been continuing with an emphasis on finishing the introduction sequence for new players. All players will have unique introductory tours based on race. Each of the races (human, dwarf, eledhel, moredhel, mountain troll, and goblin) will play through the 'coming-of-age' traditions for their kind. While human characters will be introduced to Midkemia through the Choosing, dwarfs will go through follow the ancient traditions of their elders, and trolls will experience a somewhat more savage introduction to adult life. In each case, players will be guided through the basic commands needed to interact with the world while being acquainted with their individual roles and characteristics. Upon completing the tour, players will enter the world where they can begin setting a path for themselves.

Additionally, work continues to refine player versus environment combat, a very important part of early character life. Every effort is being made to make combat with non-player characters much the same experience as fighting another player: players will need to use a full range of skills and strategies to defeat opponents.

Once work completes on the introduction sequences, we will run a closed demo for the members of crydee.com allowing them a first look at the game. This will probably include a small hunting area after the introduction, to give players a preview of how the game works. More details on this preview will be announced as soon as they are ready.

Short Story availability

In response to a question on alt.books.raymond-feist about Profit and the Grey Assassin availability Ray responded with the following.

Seriously, it will be anthologized when I pull together my shorter fiction.  Exactly when that will happen isn't clear, but not that far down the road.  I will include The Messenger, The Wood Boy, Geroldos Incredible Trick, One to Go, and at least three original, never previously published stories.  The working title is Tales of the Riftwar and Other Stories.

Best, R.E.F.
