I've never posited it, not as we know it. I suspect some rich merchant or another is getting shaved ice with flavors, honey, brandy, fruit, sugar, etc. poured over. Romans had runners bringing down ice from the Alps for that delicacy, so I can't see why some rich Kingdom guy can hire a poor lesser path to "make ice" for him, maybe for special parties.
