How does joint writing work?

From: Raymond E. Feist

Collaboration differs with every pair of writers.  Originally, Janny and I were going to co-plot, then she was going to write first draft and I was going to rewrite, but pretty quickly that changed, and we started leap-frogging over each other and then swapping chapters.  So I'd write "until the scene where they show up for breakfast," and Janny would write "from breakfast until the pool party," then we'd swap and rewrite each other.  There are scenes that are more Janny and others that are more me, but nothing went out we didn't both have  a bash at.
