I thought Amos a really wise character, am I correct?

Amos isn't someone I'd consider particularly wise.  He was  experienced and practical, but made more than his share of bad choices  along the way.  The only character I'd label "wise" among the more  prominent characters would be Father Tully and Nacoya.  Everyone else  had their moments, but in the main were imperfect, even flawed, people.
