Have you ever wondered how others see your favourite characters? The old saying, a pictures worth a thousand words stands true. A comic book, with several pictures, gives an opportunity to see how one creative team see the characters.
In December 2003 Les Dabel of Roaring Studios announced that they would be adapting to a comic/graphic novel series, Raymond E. Feist, The Wood Boy, which first appeared in Robert Silverbergs' Legends anthology. After a rocky start the complete story was finally released.
Since that first foray into the worlds of Raymond E. Feist, they set their sights on bigger targets, and under the new banner of Dabel Brothers Productions they took on the task of adapting Magician Apprentice, the first part of Magician. Again though, all was not well, and after initial production difficulties, which caused delays and availability issues, it was announced in September 2006 that Dabel Brothers Productions would partner with Marvel Comics for the publication, thus giving the comic book a promising future.
On 13th August 2007, the news was released that Marvel Comics and Dabel Brothers Productions would split, with Marvel retaining the rights to publish the Comic Book Adaptation of Magician Apprentice. We are still awaiting the third and final segnment of the series, which has now been announced - see the Latest News.

Official Press Release
New York, NY (August 13, 2007). Marvel Entertainment, Inc. and Dabel Brothers Productions, LLC announced today that they are mutually ending their publishing relationship. In 2006, Marvel and Dabel Brothers signed an agreement for Marvel to market, print and distribute several limited and ongoing series, in addition to some other dynamic new properties. Founded in 2001, the Dabel Brothers have specialized in creating comic books and graphic novels based on the works of best-selling authors' series such as Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter; George R. R. Martin's Hedge Knight; and Orson Scott Card's Tales Of Alvin Maker and others.
Marvel Entertainment, Inc. President and Publisher Dan Buckley explained, "We have great respect for the Dabel Brothers' business and the relationships they have generated. Our partnership has been an exciting experience for both companies. We wish the Dabels well in their future publishing endeavors and hope to work with them again, should the opportunity present itself."
"Working with Marvel was a dream come true for all of us, and we enjoyed the opportunity to learn from the comic book industry's market leader," said Ernst Dabel, President of Dabel Brothers Productions. "We're looking forward to applying those lessons to our business as we resume our status as a self-publisher, and we plan to continue producing top-quality adaptations of best-selling science fiction, fantasy, horror and thriller novels by popular authors.
Going forward, Marvel will continue to publish Anita Blake Vampire Hunter by Laurell K. Hamilton; the Hedge Knight series by George RR Martin; Tales of Alvin Maker and Wyrms by Orson Scott Card; Magician Apprentice by Raymond Feist; Lords of Avalon by Kinley MacGregor; and Highwayman by R.A. Salvatore. Dabel Brothers Productions will begin work on its next wave of books, slated for release in early 2008.

I will be doing one appearance only, at the Marvel booth on Saturday (don't know the time yet), in support of the comic adaptation of Magician: Apprentice.
For anyone who is going to show up, I'm going to give early warning. I may be up against a huge time issue so if you bring a lot of books to sign, don't be upset if I can only do three. My usual routine is to sign three and make you go to the back of the line so those behind don't have to wait too long, and then to get to everything eventually. This time, however, I may be out the door 1 minute after the end of the scheduled time and won't have time to linger and sign everything. You've been warned!
ADMIN NOTE: The event takes place from 26-29 July. Ray will be there on the 28th July 2007 based on the above.

Marvel made some blockbuster announcements at the Baltimore Retailer Summit, including the shocking news of Astonishing X-Men writer Joss Whedon taking over the writing chores of Runaways after Brian K. Vaughan finished his run with Michael Ryan becoming the new regular artist.
But Whedon taking over Runaways wasn't the only news as Marvel announced a partnership with the comic book studio Dabel Brothers Production with Marvel acting as the exclusive publisher for Dabel Brothers Production. ......
