Visuals for Magician (2003) Unused

Here we are pleased to present to you a selection of concept visuals by Geoff Taylor for the 2003 UK Magician paperback, the requirement was for a less epic cover than has been seen in the past. Unfortunately none of these designs were used, but passed over in favour of that from another artist. So here you have a chance for the first time to see what things may have been.

In this sketch we see simple facial design, that appears menacing.

Cover Design incorporating Visual Concept Variant 1

When incorporated into a cover design concept, and with colour added, the face goes beyond just menacing, it becomes almost evil.

You can see plenty of space has been left clear at the top and Bottom where, Raymond E. Feist's name could be inserted, possibly in gold foil, to stand out against the black background.

A Simple helm design, with sword. The space at the bottom has been left clear, possibly for inserting the authors name and book title, again these could have been in gold foil.

Visual Concept Variant 4

Another simple design, but this time a pair of helms facing each other, and two swords, possibly intended to indicate conflict.

This time on a white background, there is prenty of space available for the authors name and book title.
